Emergencies in the Grenadines

Keep this guide on the bridge. We are on call 24/7 for shoreside coordination.

Medical

For non-emergency illness or injury: clinics on St Vincent, Bequia, Canouan and Union with English-speaking GPs. Pharmacy delivery to yacht within 4 hours from Kingstown.

For emergencies: Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in Kingstown is the main referral centre. Air ambulance to Martinique, Barbados or Miami can be coordinated through specialist providers — typical mobilisation 3–6 hours daytime, longer overnight. We hold the contacts.

Mechanical

Marine engineers, electricians, refrigeration and AV specialists are based in St Vincent and at Glossy Bay Marina, Canouan. Parts not in stock can usually be airlifted from Miami in 48 hours.

Coast Guard & SAR

SVG Coast Guard channel 16. For incidents involving guests, also call us — we coordinate insurance, family contact and local authorities so the captain can focus on the vessel.

Storm preparation

During the named-storm season (June–November) we monitor NHC advisories. If a storm is forecast within 72 hours, we will reach out with shelter recommendations: Wallilabou, Blue Lagoon, Glossy Bay Marina and Tyrrel Bay (Carriacou) are the most common refuges.

• Keep the controlled-drugs inventory in the medical log up to date

What we need in an incident

Vessel position, the nature of the problem, guest or crew involved, and who is coordinating aboard. One clear message gets a doctor, an engineer or a boat moving faster than a chain of calls.
