Bequia is the easiest island to enjoy as a captain or a guest. Moorings are plentiful, restaurants are well-run, the town is walkable from the dinghy dock and provisioning is solid for top-ups and day-boat fish. Clearance is straightforward, but allow time for it — it is not always quick.

Captain notes

  • Port of entry — straightforward, but clearance is not the quickest; allow time
  • Out-of-hours customs best arranged with 48 hours' advance notice
  • Moorings inside Admiralty Bay; anchorage outside in 8–12m
  • Fast ferries in and out of the harbour cause swell onboard
  • Cruise ship days are very busy and best avoided
  • Island tours are usually by open jeep taxi
  • Excellent day-boat fish — tuna, wahoo, mahi

Guest notes

Mac's Pizzeria for the iconic Bequia dinner; Jack's Beach Bar for the upscale beachside night; the Belmont Walkway and Princess Margaret Beach for the afternoon; salt tours, the model-boat workshops and the sail loft for an hour ashore; Mount Peggy for the hike.
