Best Anchorages in the Grenadines

The Grenadines pack more world-class anchorages into 60 nautical miles than almost anywhere in the Caribbean. Here are the ones we recommend most.

Admiralty Bay, Bequia

Large protected bay, good holding in sand at 6–10m, easy dinghy access to town. Best for arrival nights from Martinique and crew time onboard without guests.

Chateaubelair, St Vincent

Stunning scenery and access to waterfalls. A useful west-coast stop when the trades are up or when guests want a change of pace from the southern Grenadines.

Tobago Cays

World-class marine park between four uninhabited islands. Anchor or mooring inside Horseshoe Reef for snorkelling with turtles. Park fees apply per person per night. Best in trade-wind conditions; avoid in a northerly swell.

Salt Whistle Bay, Mayreau

Best visited by tender. Iconic horseshoe beach. Limited swing room and bottom is mostly sand over rock — moorings recommended. Magic at sunset; busy in high season.

Saline Bay, Mayreau

Long sand beach, easy ashore. Good alternative when Salt Whistle is full.

Chatham Bay, Union Island

Deep, dramatic, great sunsets. Suitable for watersports and hiking. Watch the down-drafts off the hills.

Clifton Harbour, Union Island

Local village, busy, fruit markets and true Caribbean atmosphere.

Petit St Vincent / Petite Martinique

Well-protected, easy dinghy ride to PSV resort beach (call ahead for guest access).

Mustique

Moorings and anchoring are both possible. Moorings are allocated by the Mustique Company; book ahead through us, especially over Christmas, New Year and Easter. Anchoring is permitted, but tender landings on the beaches are restricted, so guest movements are arranged through us.
