St Maarten to the Grenadines — the southbound run, agent-handled
St Maarten is where most Atlantic arrivals refit, restock and pick up crew. The Grenadines are where the season actually happens. We handle the far end of that run so your first SVG port call is already arranged before you slip lines.
- Distance
- Roughly 340 nm rhumb line, usually broken into two or three hops.
- Typical passage
- 36–48 hours direct, or 4–7 days island-hopping.
- Best months
- November through May, with the strongest guest traffic from December to April.
Hold our ETA
Send your ETA window and crew list. We reply within 4 hours, year-round, with port options and our rate sheet.
How the legs usually break down
- Leg 1St Maarten → St Barths / St Kitts
Short shakedown leg after yard work; good place to confirm systems before the longer run south.
- Leg 2Antigua → Guadeloupe → Dominica
Trade-wind reaching. Dominica is a natural halfway stop for whale-watching and river trips.
- Leg 3Martinique / St Lucia → St Vincent
Overnight or daylight run into SVG waters. We arrange clearance at Kingstown, Wallilabou or Bequia.
- Leg 4Bequia → Mustique → Canouan → Tobago Cays → Union
The Grenadines chain itself: nine islands inside 35 nm, all covered by our team.
What to sort before you leave
- Send us your ETA window as soon as your Med or Florida departure is set — we hold berths and Tobago Cays park bookings early in the season.
- Duty-free fuel can be arranged alongside at Kingstown and Blue Lagoon, truck-to-dock at Canouan and Union, or barge-to-anchor.
- Crew change through Argyle (SVU) works well against St Maarten (SXM) rotations; we meet airside and walk crew through immigration.
- Premium and bonded provisioning is delivered to dock or anchor anywhere in the chain.
Questions captains ask us first
Where should we clear in when arriving from St Maarten?
Kingstown, Wallilabou, Bequia, Canouan or Union Island. Bequia suits most southbound yachts arriving mid-afternoon; Union suits boats continuing to Grenada. We submit SailClear and walk the paperwork through Customs, Immigration and Port Authority for you.
Can you appoint before we leave St Maarten?
Yes. Message us with the yacht, ETA and crew list and we confirm your port options and rate sheet within four hours, year-round. Nothing is due until you actually arrive.
How far in advance should we book Tobago Cays?
For January through April, weeks rather than days. We hold marine park bookings, moorings and tender support against your ETA and adjust as the weather moves you.
